When Are the Bins Collected in Wirral? 2026 Collection Days & Bank Holiday Guide

📅 March 2026 ✍️ D&D Wheelie Bin Cleaning Services ⏱️ 4 min read 📍 Wirral

Keeping track of bin collection days on the Wirral can be a headache — especially around bank holidays. At D&D, we follow the Wirral Council bin rounds every single day, so we know the schedule inside out. Here's everything you need to know for 2026.

Wirral's Three Bin Types

Wirral Council runs collections for three types of bins, rotating on alternating fortnightly schedules depending on your street.

🟢
Green Bin
General household waste — collected fortnightly
🩶
Grey Bin
Recycling — collected fortnightly, alternating with green
🟤
Brown Bin
Garden waste — seasonal service, fortnightly

How to Find Your Collection Day

The quickest way to find your exact collection day is to use the Wirral Council bin day checker. Head to their website, type in your postcode and it will tell you which week you're on and when your next collection is due.

💡 Not Sure?

Give us a call on 0151 374 0205 — we cover most of the Wirral and can tell you straight away whether we service your road and when your collection day falls.

2026 Bank Holiday Collection Changes

Wirral's collections are carried out by Biffa, who continue to operate on most bank holidays — so your bin will usually be collected as normal. The exception is Christmas and New Year, when collections that fall during that period are typically moved to the following weekend. We adjust our cleaning schedule to match in all cases.

Why Clean Your Bin Right After Collection Day?

Collection day is the best time to get your bin cleaned — it has just been emptied, so we can get right in and give it a proper jet wash with our eco-friendly disinfectant. We clean on the same day as your council collection, which means no waiting around and no fuss.

  • Bin is empty — we can clean every corner properly
  • Residue from waste is still fresh and easier to remove
  • Fly eggs laid during the previous fortnight are eliminated before they hatch
  • Bin goes back to the property clean, deodorised and ready to use
  • No disruption — you don't need to be home

A dirty bin is more than just unpleasant — it attracts flies, encourages maggots (especially in summer), and can harbour bacteria including E. coli and Salmonella. Regular cleaning keeps all of that at bay.
